I’ve Been Tagged!

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

I was tagged like a week ago by Lacey, and I completely forgot to do this!

These are the rules…. each player starts with 7 random facts about themselves on their Blog. People who are tagged need to blog 7 facts about themselves and post the rules as well. At the end of their blog list 7 people you are tagging. Let them know that they are tagged by leaving them a comment. So, time for my 7 random facts:

1. I love turtles.  I really don’t know why…just do.

2. My favorite season is fall and my favorite month is October.

3. I have 8 less teeth than most people do.

4. I love to sail.

5. My first job was as a waitress in a coffeeshop when I was 17.

6. I didn’t learn to spell my full name until I was in middle school (sad, but true).

7. My favorite Disney princess is Belle because she’s brunette and loves to read (like me!).

So, now I have to tag some people… I don’t even know if there are seven people who read my blog, but I guess I’m tagging… Maria, Debbie, Vicki, Meg, Joslyn, Leah, and Chandi.  Out of that list, there are FOUR who haven’t updated their blogs in MONTHS AND MONTHS!  You know who you are, you naughty bloggers! ;)

Packing in Progress

At this time next week, we will have spent all day unpacking at our new apartment!  It’s still hard for me to fathom; the time has blown by so quickly.  Today was day two of packing, and so far I’ve gotten everything that’s mine in our bedroom packed up, all the linens, and all our dishes and cookware packed.  So far so good.  I think I really will be able to have most of the packing done by the time Bobby gets back on Friday.

It’s been wonderful having my mom here.  She’s been having a blast with Mia, and Mia learned a few new tricks from her Oma.  When you ask her where her nose is, she points to her nose (and sometimes says, “No!” meaning “nose”).  When you ask her how big she is, she stretches both arms over her head.  And Mom brought her this little puzzle that has pieces numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4.  We’ve been counting them out loud as she puts them in their places, and she’s picked up “two, three” and sometimes “fo” (four), but she doesn’t say “one” yet.  She also just started pointing to pictures of herself and saying “Mimi!” She is definitely something else!

Here are a couple layouts I’ve done over the past couple days.  I take scrapping breaks in between packing boxes.  It helps me not stress out!

Countdown Mode

Saturday, June 16, 2007

Another week flown by.  It really feels like we are in countdown mode.  We still haven’t started packing or anything (I’m going to start on that next weekend probably), but the move continues to loom, getting closer and closer, and the preasure (read: stress) is really starting to mount for both of us.  We both have full schedules even before factoring this move in.  I am just trying not to think too much about it.  I know it will get done one way or another.

Mia came down with roseola this week.  She had a spiking fever on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday the fever was gone, but a red-speckled rash broke out all over her torso.  Yesterday it spread to her arms and legs, and today its on her face.  It doesn’t seem to bother her at all, she goes around getting into trouble like normal, but apparently it’s contagious until the rash fades… Hope it’s gone by tomorrow.  We’re supposed to have church services with another church in town, and I certinanly don’t want to spread roseola to all the babies at the new church!  On the other hand, I’d hate to miss the joint services… Time will tell! :)

Also, lots of birthdays this week!  Monday was our Pastor’s youngest son’s birthday (he turned 2).  Tuesday was my sister-in-law Joslyn’s birthday.  And Wednesday was my friend Debbie’s birthday.  Since I got both Debbie and Joslyn into digiscrapping, I designed a kit for each of them in honor of their birthday.  Joslyn’s is Summer Whimsy, which I released the week before last.  And Debbie’s is My Friend Debbie, which I just released yesterday.  Here’s a layout I did with Debbie’s kit:

And that is what I have been up to this week.  That’s probably all the designing I’m going to have time for until we get settled in Knoxville.  *sigh* Oh, well.  I’ll use the time off to re-energize! ;)

Exciting Times

Saturday, June 09, 2007

Once again, my blog is long overdue for an update.  June is here already!  And we are really getting down to the wire.

Bobby took his series 7 exam this past Wednesday and got a 90%!  I am so proud of him, and of course, it’s a huge relief to have that out of the way.  He still has a couple more licensing exams to take, but the series 7 was the really big one.

Today we decided, kind of spur-of-the-moment, to go to the beach.  We wanted to take Mia at least once before we left, and all of a sudden we realized today was probably going to be our last chance.  Next weekend we’re helping some friends move, the weekend after that Bobby will be in St. Louis for training and my mom’s coming down to watch Mia while I pack boxes, and the weekend after that we’ll be moving!  So we packed up and went to the beach.  It was a beautiful morning for it, sunny and hot, but there was a nice breeze along the shore.  The waves were pretty crazy, but Mia loved it.  Bobby carried her out a little ways and bobbed the waves with her and she just had the best time.  We didn’t stay long, maybe an hour and a half, but she totally zonked out in the car on the way home!  She took a two hour nap after having lunch and a bath when we got home.  And then it thunderstormed this afternoon (yay!), so really it was perfect that we went when we did.  Here’s our little beach girl (I used Michelle Coleman’s cool Antique Paper action on the photo):

In other news, Bobby filled out lease paperwork for our new apartment in Knoxville this week.  Man!  I just can’t believe how short the time is getting.  I am getting so excited about moving, not the actual packing part, but a new place, new opportunities… And it will be nice to be so much closer to family!  The past couple weeks have been stressful for us and pretty much everyone around us for one reason or another, and things are going to continue to be a little stressful for us over the next few weeks, but we at least feel like we’re moving towards a goal.  We’re looking forward to getting settled in Knoxville, and I know Bobby can’t wait to actually start working (as opposed to just studying) in his new career.  Definitely exciting times.
