Saturday we took Mia to the zoo. We went early, and managed to have Kids' Cove to ourselves for almost 15 minutes before anyone else showed up. There's a neat little play area down there, and we had fun taking pics/video of Mia playing on the slides and climbing ropes without having to worry about her getting mowed down by bigger kids. We took her in the petting zoo area, too, and she followed all the animals around (sheep, llamas and goats) going, "Baa-aa-aah! Baa-aa-aah!"
After the zoo we drove down to Ijams Nature Center. Mr. Google found it online, and decided he wanted to check it out. We took a leisurely stroll down to the boardwalk that runs along the river, and it was just beautiful. It was a cool morning, and everything was quiet and peacefull (well, minus the very boisterous group of Cub Scouts that we encountered very briefly). It reminded me how much I used to love the woods when I was growing up. My brother and I used to love to explore the woods on our back property. When we would go up to Charlevoix to visit Oma and Opa, we always wanted Opa to take us for nature walks. Anyways, it was nice to just be quiet and walk in the woods, and just appreciate the beauty of God's creation. And it was fun to do it with Mia. She even walked most of the way by herself, although we ended up putting her in the stroller when the path got steep and uneven. She is quite the little adventurer, though. She just wants to check everything out, and she wants to do it all by herself, and it never occurs to her to be afraid (unless, someone is vacuuming, and then it's a different story).
Here are some pics I took this weekend:

We took a trip downtown this past weekend, and I had a really clever blog post all thought out for Saturday night complete with some new photos I took...and then the world imploded. Okay, nothing so dramatic, but my external hard drive (that contains all my digital scrapbooking supplies, all my designs, and all my blog pics) became inaccessible all of a sudden, and I spent the rest of the weekend rebooting my computer and EHD, and unplugging and re-plugging-in my EHD, and other similar troubleshooting type stuff. To no avail. A short chat with my EHD manufacturer's tech support determined that my EHD needs to be reformated, and if I want to save any of the data currently on it, I need to pay some dollahs for data recovery. Blah. So, tomorrow I have a local version of the Geek Squad coming to check it out. Hopefully they can recover the data for less than the EHD manufacturer's data recovery software will cost me. So, basically my EHD is holding my data hostage. And once I recover my data, I plan on jumping up and down on my EHD, maybe dissecting it with a hammer. If I had a blow torch, I'd see what that could do. Because I don't negotiate with terrorists.
